What could we do for our community with open data? We aim to find out in the upcoming GovHack Ipswich 2017 Hackathon at Fire Station 101.
GovHack is an annual weekend event held across Australia where designers, programmers, business people, and anyone with an idea join together to create opportunities using open data.
Come along to find out what GovHack http://www.govhack.org/ is all about.
You will hear an overview of the upcoming hackathon to be run on the last weekend of July, find out what data sets we can play with, and meet others interested in giving it a go with open data.
The best teams have a mix of skills, and this event is the perfect place to find a team for you to join. Many new friendships are formed at GovHack and this is the perfect place for you to find like minded people.
We have a unique opportunity this year, with Ipswich City Council releasing open data as part of their award-winning Smart City program to support their Smart City vision of a “Connected, Enabled, and Livable City”.
New datasets available include Regulatory Parking Zones, Traffic Signals, Digital Terrain Models of catchments, and Contours.
Participants are invited to be creative with the datasets, with examples including better emergency response, more efficient city transit, improved environmental management, sustainable city planning, and more!
