Our name reflects three core principles:

1. We respect our past

Technology changes are disrupting entire industries.
Fire Station 101 respects our past and leverages local strengths to cultivate local innovation for a better global future.

2. We ignite change for the future

Change presents both challenges and opportunities.
Fire Station 101 brings together the mentors, investors, partners, and volunteers, to ignite new ideas and fuel the fire of inspiration and innovation.

3. We are learning

Innovation is inherently new, which means we are always learning. Whether you are just starting out with your idea or seeking the next level of funding, we bring together the right people and programs to make doing “new” as effective and efficient as possible.

As Community Manager, Chad is responsible for the Fire Station 101 culture and brings together the mentor, investor, and intern network to ensure member’s success. Chad brings over 20 years of hands-on organisational leadership experience across the US and Australia in public, private and not for profit sectors.

The Fire Station 101 community draws on Chad’s previous roles in defining and delivering digital solutions for Queensland’s largest privately-owned digital company, managing small businesses, investing in and mentoring start-ups, coordinating and delivering corporate innovation programs, and supporting social impact projects. We are still waiting to see how we can leverage his past roles in operating sonar systems on submarines in the U.S. Navy or his stint as a radio DJ, but we’ll see what ideas come out of Ipswich!

Chad is passionate about making a positive difference in the world through community and having fun in the process.
